The creators of Quickies Comics shared insights into their creative process and story with Brandon Martin offering a peek behind the scenes.

When asked about his favorite comic, Brandon mentioned that he tends to gravitate toward those based on everyday experiences. The Godzilla/Lego comic comes to mind. The idea came from an incident at a friend’s house his son had Legos scattered on the floor and I stepped on one barefoot. If you’ve ever done this you know it’s the worst pain a human foot can experience. From there, I thought How can I make this more comedic yet still relatable? That’s when Godzilla popped into my head and it just clicked.

If he likes it, he’ll text HAHAHA. A few days later, he sends me a rough sketch and he nails it pretty much every time.

Brandon shared that many of their cartoon ideas are inspired by real-life moments that happen throughout the day. I’ve somehow trained my brain to recognize these moments as they happen and I immediately jot them down so I don’t lose the idea he explained.
